Out of Touch

We've heard it time and time again from wrestlers and fans alike: Vince McMahon is out of touch with the WWE Universe and today's wrestling world.  I have to say after listening to McMahon on Steve Austin's podcast I completely agree.  Whether he was making a ridiculous claim that Cesaro hasn't connected with fans (because he's Swiss?!) or saying John Cena was the last person to really try to go after that "brass ring," Vince absolutely came across as a man who's definitely out of touch.

Austin wasn't afraid to ask hard questions.  Unfortunately few will find satisfaction in most of McMahon's answers.  Perhaps the only positive I took away from the hour plus interview was that he officially apologized to CM Punk. It seemed McMahon wasn't spewing lies but in fact believed every answer and explaination he gave.  And there lies the problem.  Many of his beliefs are indeed out of touch with today's audience.

Mentioned above and perhaps the most outrageous claim was McMahon's belief that John Cena was the last person to really strive and go after the "brass ring." In fact McMahon believes that the entire current roster isn't ambitious at all!  So CM Punk was never ambitious.  Neither was Daniel Bryan.  What about Dolph Ziggler?  Nope.  How about Zack Ryder and the fact he created an entire following and mega popular YouTube channel that generated MILLIONS of views all ON HIS OWN?!  Not ambitious at all in McMahon's eyes.  Even The Miz, like him or not, does literally everything and then some for the WWE.  But in Mr. Vince McMahon's belief only John Cena has strived to be successful and "over" in this sports entertainment company.

This is why wrestlers, who both currently and previously work for the WWE, and fans hold to the absolute truth the Vince McMahon is indeed completely out of touch.
